This little story is about how my OVHCloud VPS was suddenly terminated, and I was left unable to download any data from it.
I received this email from OVH US Support. They asked me to take a look into possible violation of Terms of Service.
I found that VPS is down and replied to email from OVH (reply-to address was support@corp1.zendesk.com):
To take a look at this problem, I need to access my VPS. Was it turned off? (I can't ping 51.81.86.73)
I tried to login into control panel (https://us.ovhcloud.com/auth/)
I also tried to reset password several times but got no emails from OVH.
Started a live chat with support at https://us.ovhcloud.com/ and asked what happened to my VPS.
The agent replied that could not help me and advised me to send another email to support.
Sent email to support@ovh.us. Got a reply:
Called support (855 684 5463). The robot said the agent would reply soon and kept repeating this message.
2 days have passed. VPS is still down. I have not received any response to my emails or emails to reset the password.
Do not use OVH services. If you do use OVH services, setup full regular backup (files, databases, etc) somewhere outside OVH infrastructure.
And be prepared that the services for which you have paid, can be terminated at any moment.
Looks like they understand that in most cases customers will not sue them because of VPS, and they may simply terminate the service.
